Philadelphia, PA (April 2010) – With last year’s economic downturn affecting people all over the country, Fans Helping Fans, a grassroots charity started and run by volunteers who are passionate fans of the Philadelphia Eagles, assisted a Tennessee Eagles fan coping with unemployment and mounting unpaid bills.

When a lay-off and a company closing resulted in dual unemployment for Scott and Bassma P., Fans Helping Fans stepped up to assist the couple with overdue car payments so that each could continue to look for work and hold a temporary job. The family already had taken big steps to cope, including moving from a high-cost state to one with a cheaper cost of living, cutting back on their budget and taking any temporary jobs they could find. But as the economy struggled and medical expenses piled up on top of regular bills, these longtime Eagles fans turned to FHF.

With the generous help of its contributors, Fans Helping Fans was able to make car payments totaling almost $1,800.00 for the family, helping to avoid repossession and to maintain the couple’s ability to look for and get to work.

Said Scott P. when learning of the grant, “WOW, WOW, WOW. I’m speechless and shocked. This is so incredible. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!”

Happily, Scott later reported that the company where he was temping had hired him full-time. “We would not have made it without FHF. It was an answer to prayer! It was such a huge relief of our stress. I just can’t say thank you enough. We are still working to get on our feet and caught up with things, but I want to someday make a donation back.”

Many thanks to the Eagles fans who help support Fans Helping Fans and help us assist other fans like Scott P.
